Dr. Amanda Chmelicek, also known as “Dr. C.”, started SouthPaw Animal Clinic in 2013.
Dr. C has worked professionally with animals since 1995 when she started her first job working in an animal clinic. She worked in nearly every function in that veterinary clinic – a kennel attendant, groomer, veterinary receptionist and veterinary assistant – before she obtained her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine at the University of Missouri ~ College of Veterinary Medicine in 2007.
After graduation, Dr. Chmelicek returned to that same veterinary practice where she worked as an Associate Veterinarian. She became a Veterinary Partner in that practice in 2008 and remained so until leaving in 2013 to pursue the building of SouthPaw Animal Clinic.
In 2013, she was given the opportunity to branch out on her own and immediately began construction on SouthPaw Animal Clinic. The vet clinic you see today is a result of custom construction and planning – from paint colors to architecture, top-of-the-line in-house diagnostic laboratory and pharmacy, and a top notch team – Dr. C designed from the drawing board to best serve her clients. (Take a look around.)
SouthPaw Animal Clinic officially opened in Overland Park, Kansas on March 3, 2014 and has been open to serve their patients and Pet Parents since that date.
Dr. Chmelicek is an avid reader and is always looking to learn something new. She keeps herself busy working on projects around the house. She loves spending time with her husband, Cody, and their children Tyler, Gavin, Emma, and Marvin. She shares her home with many furry and feathered critters (an Australian Shepherd dog named Jake, a King Charles Cavalier Spaniel dog named Cecil, a Greyhound/Border Collie mix dog named Muddy, a Great Dane named Waylon and three cats named Sniper, Charlie, and Socket and a parakeet named Jellybean. (Check out pictures of them in our photo album.)
Dr. Brooke Bailey joined the SouthPaw team July 2023. She has been a wonderful asset to our team and she is an advocate for fear free patient care, client education, and patient wellness.
When not at work, Dr. Bailey enjoys spending time with her dogs: Howl, Jinx, and Rocky.
